Ruth Roman was born on June 22, 1939 on June 22, 1939 in Lynn Massachusetts. Ruth Roman is the youngest child of Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. When she was young, her carnival barker father passed away, leaving Ruth's mother no option but to work as a cleaning woman and waitress to provide for the family. Ruth lived in a slum Boston tenement neighborhood, Massachusetts. She attended school in the area. However, she was only in school for two years before taking a break to pursue her acting profession. There were many hurdles to overcome on her chosen career path. In New York she was hired to pose for photos for a magazine about crime and drama, however no theater jobs were forthcoming. She then worked as an hat-checker at the nightclub before calling it quits and returning to Boston. There she made a buck as an usherette by in the daytime, while at night she performing with the New England Repertory Company. This was her very first job as an actor. Her studies in drama led her to earn her degree in the Bishop-Lee Theatre School.
